Birthday Dinner: The Boiling Crab

This was by far the MESSIEST and YUMMIEST birthday dinner I've ever had. Last Friday Danny and I went to the Boiling Crab with my Mom n Dad and Mo and Shanny to celebrate my birthday. Too much fun! We got dungeness crab, lobster, crawfish, smoked sausage, shrimp and raw oysters smothered in lemon pepper, garlic butter and cajun spices. I do believe this was the first time I've worn a bib while eating since I was 2 years old!

Look...they're friends

Dueling Piano Bar Night With My Ladies

We had a girls night out at the Derby Dueling Piano Bar for Kels and Julia's Birthday. Fun stuff -- complete with an embarrassing birthday dance in front of the the whole bar to "Baby Got Back". Ha-ha I wonder who requested that?

Derby has the best cheesecake EVER! So yummy and rich with a graham, toffee crust!

Happy Birthday Coco

In 1970, in collaboration with the perfumer Henri Robert, Coco Chanel created her last fragrance. She named this bracing green blend of iris, neroli, vetiver, and cedarwood No 19, after her birth date, the nineteenth of August. Mademoiselle made No 19 as a gift for herself—after all, it had been 50 years since she created the iconic No 5. Seen as subversive for its unusual pale-green color and strikingly modern composition, No 19 launched quietly at first in Switzerland, becoming a sleeper hit over the years with a loyal corps of the devoted.

“Once a man stopped me in the street because of it,” Coco recalled to her friend Carmen Tessier. “As I was leaving the Ritz, I felt someone touch my shoulder. Before I could sharply brush off this intruder, he said, with an American accent: ‘Excuse me, I’m with two ladies who would like to know what perfume you are wearing.’ I told him, ‘Why don’t you follow me.’ And I took them to the Chanel boutique.”

Today, to celebrate what would have been Coco’s one hundred twenty-eighth birthday, Chanel launches an update on the original: No 19 Poudré. Perfumer Jacques Polge’s soft new interpretation stays true to the original’s neroli top notes, iris heart, and vetiver base notes, adding mandarin orange, jasmine absolute, white musk, and tonka bean. It goes on sale this morning, at

Girl Party

My Mother is the last of 8 children and each of those children had about 3 or 4 children, and those children are now having children etc. (+ my father's side ='s the population of a small country)! So as you can see I have a BIG family! Whenever one of my Aunt’s has a birthday, a sister will host a party for her and all the girls are invited! It's a blast! Last week my Mother hosted a party for my Aunt Jill. Happy birthday Aunt Jilly-Bean! I love spending time with my Mother and Aunt’s whenever I get the chance. Oh the stories they can tell...
While sipping wine and eating red velvet cake, Aunt Jill told me about her glamorous flight attendant days with Pan American airlines. She recalled a time when she was staying the weekend in Bombay (now known as Mumbai) and one of her fellow flight attendants wanted to go out for a fancy dinner. Sadly, Aunt Jill said she couldn't afford it. Her friend told her not to worry... it was covered. Little did she know that rich men would be paying for their dinners and the girls would have to runaway from their foreign suitors!
What a hoot! Everyone burst out laughing!
I love all the stories. They are all such wonderful women who know how to laugh and live life to the fullest. I am so grateful for each one of them. I love big families. We have so much fun!
